Daniel Mullen
Admire the precision of his work. I always told myself that one day there would be fabrics using the patterns and colors of this artist.
"Drawing inspiration from the art and architecture of De Stijl and constructivism, Mullen's work also incorporates the visual language of geometric and hard abstraction and the artists of the California Light and Space movement, James Turrell and Larry Bell. Mullen depicts oblique planes of transparent color that challenge the viewer's perception of dimensionality. Alternating between convex and concave perspectives, his paintings appear as floating abstract structures and portals in the picture plane. Mullen creates his optical illusions entirely by hand, without the aid of digital rendering programs or mechanical aids."
